Dancing Bones

I am reading Dancing Bones by Patsy Clairmont for my Wednesday night Bible study. The book is about living lively in the valley. She uses Ezekiel 37:1-10 as the focus. She is so witty and makes some great illustrations. Here is my favorite:

"From the mountaintop I can see the eagle soar, but I've learned that in the valley I can hear a sparrow sing. On the mountain I see trees like canopies, but in the valley I can sit in their shade and eat of their fruit. On the mountain I see lakes like small mirrors, but in the valley I can touch the relections and ladle the water to my parched lips. On the summit I see people like walking sticks, but in the valley I can trace a child's face and dab away tears."

I am truly enjoying it right now.....pondering lots of thoughts that it brings. I will keep you posted. Also, if you get a chance please pray about me passing this book on to someone ( I have them in mind already) that I think would be changed with these words.

Now we all want to know who it is that you have in mind. Seriously, if you have someone in mind, the Holy Spirit might be prompting you to give it to that person. Don't waver. Just do it.

Thanks, April. I tend to be extra cautious with this person due to their pushback on occasion. I will make a decision by this weekend. I want to make sure it is the Holy Spirit and not just my want or expectation.

That sounds like a good book...I've found so many times in life that the "valleys" are actually the sweetest time, because it's easier to rest on the Lord during that time, than in the "mountain" times when it feels like I'm the one who has everything under controL:)

I saw Patsy Clairmont at Women of Faith and really enjoyed her. Women of Faith is not usually my kind of thing, but I was very blessed this year. Her humor and honesty is very refreshing. I just want to learn to be content in the valley (i think i am most of the time). I completely agree with your comment.
